OKLAHOMA CITY – Police need your help tracking down a thief.

“He zipped past me real quick on his bicycle,” said Mansel Ritter.

In the blink of an eye – that’s how fast Ritter said his wallet was stolen.

It was 11 a.m. in broad daylight.

“It was a shock. I wasn’t expecting it, you know, something like that to happen,” Ritter said.

Ritter was hoping to help his granddaughter pack by finding a few unwanted boxes in dumpsters.

It’s why he went to Homeland grocery store in southwest Oklahoma City.

When he leaned in to grab a box from a dumpster, a bandit on a bike snatched his wallet from his back pocket.

“I thought he got the keys to my van, but I put them on my belt there,” he said.

The 89-year-old war vet said he tried to stop the thief but couldn’t.

He uses a cane to get around.

Ritter said he yelled out when it happened.

“’Hey, bring that back to me! Bring that back!’ Real loud,” he said.

Inside the wallet, $300 in cash along with items Ritter said are worth a lot more.

“I had a lot of pictures of my grandkids, my driver’s license and my social security number,” he said.

It’s why he’s hoping to at least get his wallet back.

Cameras caught two images of the suspect.

Ritter believes he would recognize the thief, if he saw him again.

Police are asking, if you know anything about this crime, to give them a call, or you can report your tip online on the Crimestoppers website.
