OKEMAH, Okla. — An Oklahoma man accused in the murder of two young girls was expected in court Tuesday on a completely different murder case, however, his hearing has been moved to Aug. 22.
Kevin Sweat is accused of the 2008 double murder of two young girls from the town of Weleetkah, Skyla Whitaker and Taylor Paschal-Placker.
Sweat is also accused of first-degree murder in the death of his ex girlfriend, 23-year-old Ashley Taylor.
Taylor went missing one year ago.
Fragmented human bones were later found in a burn pile on Sweat’s father’s property.
Authorities said the DNA evidence is consistent with Taylor’s but not an exact match.
Authorities believe Sweat killed the Weleetka girls first, then murdered his girlfriend Ashley Taylor because she had knowledge of the double-murder.
Sweat is scheduled to be arraigned in Okfuskee County Court in the Taylor murder case.
The arraignment was delayed last month.
