EL RENO, Okla. -- In June Sonja and John Kluth were found guilty of child abuse and neglect.

Their three foster children testified saying they were burned, beaten, starved and tortured.

That was before the oldest son got away and was found sleeping in a box behind a fast food restaurant in 2010.

John was sentenced to 10 years for each count, some served consecutively and some served concurrently.

Sonja was handed down a harsher sentence, life plus 25 years for each count.

Jurors said even though the will remain behind bars for a long time, it doesn't even come close to the abuse their foster children suffered.

John Kluth did take the stand Tuesday asking for a commuted sentence which was rejected.

Both will have to undergo counseling and medical evaluations before heading to Lexington.

They will also have to pay court costs.
