KONOWA, Okla. - Authorities in Konawa say a woman walked into a high school gym during a basketball tournament not to watch the game, but to allegedly commit a crime.

They believe she brought a gun inside the school during a game to allegedly kill her grandfather.

Police say Summer Shaw has been in a custody battle with her grandparents over her children.

Officials say Shaw has had two intense encounters with law enforcement within the past month.

The first was early Christmas morning when police arrested her for allegedly assaulting her grandmother.

She was jailed that day.

When Shaw was released, police say she was at it again.

Fresh out of jail for only a few days, police rushed to the Konawa High School gym during a basketball tournament.

They say Shaw had allegedly assaulted her grandfather and this time she had a gun.

Jason Teel, assistant chief of the Konowa Police Department, said, "She went straight in. She was there for a specific purpose to assault and we believe murder her grandfather."

Police believe Shaw was high on meth when she walked into the gym and confronted her grandfather.

Another family member realized she had a gun, grabbed her and pushed her out a nearby exit.

Teel said, "Within a second, a shot is fired as soon as they get outside the door."

Since there were about 300 people in the gym that night, officers say that family member's actions saved lives.

Teel said, "She had it in her pocket and attempted to get it out and use it when it went off."

It fired about 15 feet away into the ground.

Several family members held Shaw down until police arrived.

"She was actively kicking, resisting and spitting," Teel said. "She spat on a deputy."

However, authorities say it doesn't end there.

Once she was arrested, dash cam video shows Shaw hitting her head against the glass inside the police car.

Teel said, "She fought all the way from when we first made contact with her there on the landing outside the door of the gym until we were able to get her in the car."

Shaw is facing charges of attempted murder, domestic abuse, resisting arrest, placing bodily fluids on an officer and possession of drugs and a firearm on school property.
