OKLAHOMA CITY – Winter weather has been affecting Oklahoma resources for months, early Sunday morning according to city officials the water plant at lake Stanley draper stopped pumping water after a frozen power cable snapped.
For nearly 6 hours families and businesses around the south side of the metro were without water, one business that lost pressure is the Oklahoma heart institute.
They say this isn’t the first time the hospital has lost water pressure but because of previous events they have installed contingency plans and have reserve water supplies.
John Austin the Coo with the Oklahoma Heart Hospital says water is very impactful during surgeries as it is used to sterilize instruments and wash before surgeries.
As of now the power to the plant has been restored but officials are asking residents to conserve water so they can replenish their supply.
