ENID, Okla. - An 11-year-old girl is doing everything she can to support the kids of a fallen Oklahoma soldier.

Sydney Wyatt is hosting an online auction to raise money for Mycaela and Raelynn Prince, the daughters of Sergeant Mycal Prince.

Mycal Prince was killed while serving with the Oklahoma Army National Guard in Afghanistan last September.

The soldier who escorted his body back to the United States is a friend of Sydney's parents.

"I think that made it very personal [for Sydney]," Sydney's mother, Niki Wyatt, said.

Personal enough for Sydney, who had never met the Prince family, to spend months organizing a fundraiser to help send the girls to college.

"I just really wanted to raise a lot of money for these girls," Sydney said. "They've sacrificed so much and I just really wanted to give back."

Sydney is Miss Rodeo Oklahoma Princess 2012.

She originally held the fundraiser on April 14 in Cherokee.

But the tornadoes that ripped through the northwestern part of the state that night almost put an end to the event.

"We escorted about one and a half school buses full of people to an armory where we stayed for an hour and a half waiting for the tornadoes to clear," Niki Wyatt said.

"And even after we came out of the storm shelters, 100 people returned, even without lights," Sydney said. "So by candlelight we finished up the silent auction."

The tornadoes had driven too many people away for Sydney to hold her live auction, but she hasn't given up.

"We are setting up a website and it has a link to the live auction items and it's a proxy bidding," Sydney said.

The internet auction starts Thursday.

All proceeds from the auction go to Mycal Prince's daughters.
