OKAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — A 14-year-old is dead after an overnight shooting in southeast Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma City police say they were called out to The Commons at Sunnylane apartment complex near southeast 44th and Sunnylane Road.

“It was shortly before 2 am when police received a call of an apartment shooting. This was in the southeast part of Oklahoma City,” said Master Sergeant Gary Knight.

When officers arrived, they found a person shot to death in a breezeway of the apartment complex.

“When officers arrived, they found a person there who had been shot. Sadly, that person had passed away as a result of their injuries and to make it even more sad, it was a 14-year-old who was killed,” said Knight.

Police identified the victim as 14-year-old Dominique Ross.

Police on scene said witnesses who called 911 described seeing a red truck and said it was a possible suspect vehicle.

Shortly after arriving on scene, officers spotted a vehicle matching the description, which started a chase.

The chase ended in a crash near southeast 29th and I-40, where two individuals were arrested, but not for the homicide.

Officers say it’s too early and not enough information is available to determine whether or not the two crimes are connected.

“Investigators are trying to piece together all of the events, the chain of events that led up to this young man being killed,” said Knight.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the homicide tipline at 297-1200.
