ENID, Okla. (KFOR) – Authorities in Enid have arrested a 51-year-old man as they investigate the death of a child.

Around 1:45 a.m. on Thursday morning, officials with the Enid Police Department were called to the Grand Prairie Motel, formerly the OYO Hotel, located in the 2800 block of S. Van Buren in Enid.

Initial reports indicate that a child was found in the hotel’s pool.

Officers arrived and found 2-year-old Caliyah J. Guyton had been removed from the pool. Officers performed CPR until Life EMS arrived on the scene. They transported the child to Integris Bass Baptist Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Officials say that Guyton had injuries consistent with a sexual assault.

A hotel employee called 911 which was released on Thursday. The call is disturbing and we have chosen not to post it at this time. This is a portion of the call:

(Screaming in the background) “Please, somebody please come now, please.”

“It’s a little girl that is in the pool.”

“Two people came down looking for her. Please send somebody right now.”

“Oh My God, please send somebody right now. She’s blue. Oh God, please send somebody right now ma’am.”

“I think this baby is gone.”

According to the Enid Police Department, the female child had injuries consistent with a sexual assault.

Officials began searching for 51-year-old Michael S. Geiger, who is considered a person of interest in the case.

After a 7-hour search, Geiger was spotted on a nearby roof and was taken into custody.

“This was an aggravated assault on an innocent child and a very disturbing incident,” Lt. Bryan Hart said. “We’re glad this case was brought to an end in a timely manner with Mr. Geiger’s arrest.”

Geiger is now facing charges of first-degree murder and first-degree rape.

Officials say Geiger had just been released from state custody in March after serving a 10-year sentence for kidnapping in Oklahoma County.

Twenty people gathered at the motel and prayed Thursday night. They then put stuffed animals and flowers under a tree in front of the motel in memory of the 2-year-old.

“We’ve all been in tears. We don’t even know this kid. It’s tearing our community apart,” said vigil organizer Ty Smith. “We wanted to come out here today and just show that this baby won’t go unknown, that this town, this community of Enid, Okla., is here for the family, the friends, even if we didn’t know them. There’s just nothing that can explain the feeling of knowing that a baby was raped, murdered and just treated like nothing, you know? She will never be forgotten.”
