OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Oklahoma Department of Transportation crews are preparing for a winter storm headed toward the Sooner State.
ODOT crews and the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority are reporting freezing drizzle and slick spots impacting highways in eastern Oklahoma on Monday morning.
Officials say they are treating slick spots that are impacting highways and turnpikes from southwestern Oklahoma to northeastern Oklahoma around and along I-44 in eastern stretches.
Slick and hazardous conditions are being reported in Caddo, Comanche, and Murray counties. Slick spots are in Kiowa and Tillman counties.
In the Oklahoma City metro, roads are slick in spots on all highways, interstates, and turnpikes.
I-35 between Oklahoma City and Guthrie is considered very slick and being treated as is I-35 in Norman. Conditions along I-40 from Oklahoma City east to Shawnee is considered slick and hazardous and further east may become slick as precipitation moves in that direction.
Crews began monitoring and treating roadways on Sunday night as some freezing precipitation moved into the area.
