Oklahoma City fire officials say December is peak month for candle fires

Local

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Oklahoma City Fire Department officials warn that December is the peak month for candle fires.

Candle fires mostly occur because the candles are too close to objects that can burn.

Fire officials ask community members to keep candles at least a foot away from other flammable objects, and to make sure they put out the candle’s flame before leaving the house or going to bed.
