HOUSTON, Texas – A dog is supposed to be man’s best friend, and one dog in Texas was lost without his owner.

Cassandra Eubanks told KTRK that a German Shepherd was sitting at the front gate of her apartment complex, looking for his owner to drive home.

“He would follow the cars and when he would realize that it was not his owner’s car, he would just stand there and look helpless,” Eubanks said.

Neighbors soon learned why the dog was waiting.

His owner, a convenience store clerk, was killed during an armed robbery.

“Of course, he’s confused because he doesn’t know what’s going on. He hadn’t seen his owner in two weeks,” said Eubanks.

Finally, a woman was able to gain the dog’s trust and take him home.
