HENNESSEY, Okla. — The Kingfisher County Sheriff`s Office says five starving horses are now getting the help they need. Neighbors say they contacted authorities because they were concerned about the animals that appeared to be malnourished and underweight.
The horses are living on a piece of property just northwest of Hennessey.
“They just look sad. They are just in sad shape,” neighbor Rhonda Stotts said.
Stotts says the horses have been this way for more than a year.
Neighbors try to put out hay for the horses and provide water.
The sheriff’s office was able to track down the owner.
We’re told the owner was not living on the property.
A veterinarian has inspected the horses and has placed them on a plan to get them healthy again.
The sheriff`s office says the owner is cooperating.
No charges are expected.
