OKLAHOMA CITY – One of the best teams in the NBA is based in Oklahoma City and many fans credit the team’s success with NBA MVP Kevin Durant.

However, he says that title belongs to the person who made him the man he is today.

During his MVP acceptance speech, Durant said, “We wasn`t supposed to be here. You made us believe. You sacrificed for us. You`re the real MVP.”

Wanda Pratt, fondly known as ‘Mama Durant,’ re-watched Durant’s acceptance speech before giving her own heartwarming speech at Faith Church in Oklahoma City on Mother`s Day.

Pratt said, “As Kevin said the other day, the odds were stacked against us and we weren`t supposed to be here but in Jeremiah, God said I know the plans that I have for you.”

She said she still stumbles today but fights through it with the lessons she was taught by her mother.

She said, “On this day, I honor my mother because it was her who made me into the woman I stand before you today. It was her who gave me the examples of being a fine mother. It was her who showed me how to sacrifice for my family.”

A family that mother and fan Andrea Jones says has the entire city inspired.

Jones said, “Mama Durant, the mom of Oklahoma City. You know everyone just looks up to her because she’s the one who raised him, you know he had to have learned everything he knows from somebody.”

Pratt says she feels so much love from the community and knows the feelings are mutual.

Pratt said, “I am inspired by all of you. I am blessed by all of you and how well you have received my son and our family.”
