PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Police in Pennsylvania have arrested man for the murder of his newlywed wife.

According to WPVI, the couple had been married for just nine days before 42-year-old Pamela Nightlinger was shot to death with a crossbow.

Neighbors called 911 after Nightlinger stumbled to their home on Sunday night.

“I just heard banging on the door and my son screaming and someone saying, ‘help,” Margie Maldonado told WPVI.

Maldonado let Nightlinger inside and immediately called for help.

“She was on the floor, gasping for air and it was terrible, blood pool all over the place,” she said.

She died after reaching the hospital.

Police say Nightlinger and 40-year-old Paul Kuzan had been arguing when Kuzan grabbed a crossbow and allegedly fired one shot at Nightlinger.

Investigators say the arrow went through her chest and lodged itself in a wall.

Neighbors say Kuzan had been acting strangely lately, and Nightlinger had told them that he was not taking his medicine.

Authorities say Kuzan confessed to the crime and has been charged with murder.
