OKLAHOMA CITY — A man was arrested after he was allegedly caught huffing carburetor cleaner in his garage Friday.
Police responded to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon in the 600 block of S.E. 51st St. around 3 a.m.
A woman claimed that her brother had been huffing intoxicants before he kicked in her bedroom door and stabbed her boyfriend.
The victim said he was sleeping in the bedroom with the door locked when 36-year-old Nicklous Pappan kicked the door down and “went after” him with a large survival knife.
During the struggle, Pappan managed to punch his sister’s boyfriend several times in the head and face, and left him with a cut at the top of his left forearm, police say.
Pappan was completely naked during the attack, according to reports.
When police asked where the suspect was, the victim told the officer that his attacker was back in the garage huffing carburetor cleaner.
Police say they approached the naked suspect, who was indeed huffing while watching TV, and ordered him to put down the can and step away from the knife.
Officers say Pappan refused to comply and asked the officer “Do you want to fight?” The officer told the suspect he did not want to fight and, once again, ordered him to back away from the knife.
Pappan refused again and allegedly reached for the knife, so police say they tasered him in the middle of the back and put him in handcuffs.
Nicklous Pappan was transported to Southwest Medical Center, and then Oklahoma County Jail.
