OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma man was arrested after allegedly trying to poison a woman with mercury.

In July, officers were called to a woman’s home after she said she found a large amount of mercury in the bottom of a cup.

According to the arrest affidavit, the woman was cleaning out her cup when she noticed something at the bottom. The victim told police that she uses the cup all the time and believed the mercury was put in her drink by 45-year-old Robert Buchert Jr.

She said after he had visited her, she had become sick and felt dizzy, nauseous and confused.

Buchert was arrested on a charge of attempting to kill by poison.
