STILLWATER, Okla. — One man was arrested Thursday, March 26 after allegedly beating and robbing a man on Saturday, March 14.

The Stillwater Police Department arrested Erick Dawayne Harrison Hagler, 22, for the robbery and stabbing of 67-year-old David Holba.

On Saturday evening March 14, just before 8 p.m., Stillwater Police officers responded to a reported stabbing near 1800 S. Fern St.

When officers arrived, they say Holba had been beaten with a bottle until it broke, and then stabbed with the same broken bottle. Holba was transported to a hospital that night.

Authorities say the motive for the assault appeared to be robbery.

Reports say Hagler demanded the victim’s money and cell phone. That’s when the struggle began.

Police say the suspect left the scene in a dark gray 4-door car that was driven by another male. Witnesses at the scene say the extent of the driver’s involvement was unknown; no charges have been filed against him.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Hagler on Wednesday, March 25, and he was arrested the next day for Force or Fear and Assault and Battery with a Deadly Weapon.

Hagler was booked in the Payne County Jail.
