CLEVELAND COUNTY, Okla. — A Newalla man was arrested for stealing a generator from a home.

A Cleveland County sheriff’s deputy spotted two men loading a generator into the trunk of a 1990 Lincoln vehicle around 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Randall Earl Thomas, 49, was arrested for having an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

That’s when the other man, who police say is mentally handicapped, told deputies that Thomas stole the generator from a home in the 16800 block of Harrah Rd.

The man said Thomas promised him to split the profit if he didn’t tell anyone what they were doing.

Authorities say Thomas eventually admitted to stealing the generator, but he said it was to help someone.

So police say they questioned the woman at the Harrah Rd. residence, and she said her generator was missing. The woman also said Thomas was a suspect in another larceny case reported on Monday.

The woman got her generator back, and Thomas was booked in the Cleveland County Detention Center for the outstanding warrant, complaints of grand larceny, and possession of stolen property.
