ATLANTA, Ga. – Police are searching for three intruders who caused a man to jump to his death.

The victim, who WSB identified as Jose Greer, lived in a third-floor apartment at the Skylofts in southwest Atlanta.

When he heard someone kicking in his front door, authorities say Greer immediately ran to the balcony.

“In fear of his safety, he went out to the balcony and at some point, they did make entry and he subsequently jumped, which injured him in a very serious way,” Maj. Adam Lee, with the Atlanta Police Department, told WSB.

Police say Greer died six hours later at a nearby hospital.

Investigators say the suspects dropped some items they stole from his apartment.
