MIDWEST CITY, Okla. - An elderly man has died after his mobile home in Midwest City caught fire Wednesday morning, officials said.

Around 8:40 a.m., firefighters were called to extinguish a mobile home fire at the Edgewood RV Community near S.E. 29th and Edgewood.

Major David Richardson, a public information officer with Midwest City Fire, says crews arrived on the scene within three minutes of the call

Once they were on the scene, authorities say they contained the mobile home fire was contained quickly.

While clearing the home, firefighters found a man's body.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has not been officially identified at this time.

We're told the investigation now includes the Midwest City Police Department to determine exactly how the man died.

"It's standard protocol on something like this to work with the police department. Anytime we have a fatality we want to work with the police department to determine and help them determine if the fire occurred before or after the death," said Major Richardson.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation; however, we're told none of the homes or property nearby were not damaged.

The man's body will be sent to the medicinal examiner's office.
