Man left in critical condition after being hit by car

NORMAN, Okla. — A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in the 400 block of E. Tecumseh Rd. early Monday morning.

Emergency crews responded to a collision call around 3:30 a.m. Reports stated that a person was standing in the middle of the inside lane when a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Tecumseh Road from Porter Ave. The vehicle, later reported as a 2014 Chevy Sonic, then struck the pedestrian in the roadway, according to police.

The driver of the collision, identified by police Tuesday as 37-year-old, Joseph Langford was not injured and was released from the scene.  The pedestrian, Thomas Bates, 39, was transported by EMSSTAT to OU Medical Center due to injuries sustained from the collision, according to authorities.

Norman PD says Bates remains hospitalized in critical condition at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. No other persons or vehicles were involved in the collision. The collision remains under investigation by the Norman/OU Police Collision Investigation Reconstruction Team.
