MOORE, Okla. – A man is recovering after being attacked with a knife in his own garage early this morning.

Just hours after Don Hunter was attacked by two men with a knife, he was speaking out about the assault, wearing bandages and all.

“They need to come to justice, needless to say, but I don’t have anything against them,” said Don Hunter.

He said he’s lived in this neighborhood near N.E. 18th & Broadway for the past 25 years.

“It’s a pretty strange thing that happened here. It’s a good neighborhood, nice and quiet,” said Hunter.

Hunter, a pastor, was packing for an upcoming church trip early Monday morning when a stranger walked up to his home and asked for money.

” A very short time later, someone rushed him inside of the garage, striking him with an object, which appears to be a knife,” said Sgt. Jeremy Lewis, with the Moore Police Department.

Hunter had to get 10 staples at the hospital after suffering two slashes to his forearm.

However, before the alleged suspects could get away, Hunter reached for his own weapon.

“I had a gun on me most of the time. I had it in my pocket and I just kept my hand on it. After I saw the second one for sure, I pulled it out,” said Hunter.

Hunter fired off one round as the alleged suspects ran from his home. Police say they aren’t sure if the suspects were hit.

While uncomfortable, he said his wounds won’t stop him from his passion, cruising on the open road.

“That’s my clutch hand on my Harley, so that’s going to be real sore,” said Hunter.

Moore police are still searching for the alleged suspects.
