OKLAHOMA CITY – A man is lucky to be alive after a car slammed into his house early Monday morning.

Around 2:45 a.m., the homeowner told KFOR that he had just gotten up to go to the bathroom when the unexpected happened.

He said a car crashed into his home near S.E. 53rd and Bryant.

“I just got up to go to the bathroom and it was kind of like thunder, hit the house like an earthquake actually and I couldn’t come back in the room,” the man said. “I was like ‘what’s going on.’ I looked out the door and a van’s hanging out of the front of my house.”

The man said the keys were still in the vehicle, but the driver was nowhere to be seen.

The resident says he is thankful his pets are okay.

Crews are still investigating.

At this time, police believe the driver missed a turn and crashed into the house.

No one is in custody at this time.
