BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – Carolyn White says she became concerned when she saw an SUV parked along the street with stacks of parking tickets on the windshield.
When she got closer, she noticed the body of 62-year-old Jacob Morpeau.
White told the Sun Sentinel that Morpeau’s body was slumped over the center console and he was sitting in the driver’s seat.
The medical examiner eventually determined the Morpeau died from natural causes, but could not pinpoint exactly when he died.
However, his vehicle received parking tickets from Nov. 12 through Nov. 15, which is when White discovered him.
White says she can understand why a parking attendant didn’t see Morpeau from the driver’s side, but says he was visible from the passenger’s side of the SUV.
Fort Lauderdale officials refused to comment to the Sun Sentinel, only saying that the $160 in parking fees were dismissed “due to extenuating circumstances.”
