PIEDMONT, Okla. – Piedmont and Oklahoma City fire crews fought for hours to put out a massive house fire. Eyewitnesses saw flames from over a mile away.

The flames refused to give up their hold on the house.

Thankfully, no one was home at the time. The blaze tore through the house and crews struggled to keep up since there were no fire hydrants in the neighborhood.

“We’ve had to go probably half to three-quarters of a mile to bring water in and we’ve had a little difficulty keeping a constant water supply going at first.” District Chief Chad Everett said.

“It hits home that there’s no fire hydrants.” Neighbor Doniece Wilson said. “And I thought about all her memories, all her pictures and stuff so hopefully she had some of those with her.”

The house is a total loss. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire, but don’t believe it was arson.
