UPDATE: Massive wildfire tears through Shawnee business

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Authorities in Pottawatomie County are trying to get a massive fire under control.

Firefighters were called to a field near I-40 and Kickapoo St. in Shawnee on Friday afternoon.

When officers arrived on scene, they reported thick, black smoke coming from a field near Boaties, located in the 2300 block of Leo Sun St.

The fire continues to spread out of control and thick smoke can be seen from the highway.

Authorities say there are also fires that are spread over a couple of miles.

However, fire crews do not know a cause at this time.
