Members of KFOR family honored at media awards show

OKLAHOMA CITY – Several members of our family at KFOR were honored at an awards show Tuesday night.

The “Excellence in Media Awards,” put on by The Oklahoma Media Network, honored KFOR’s Linda Cavanaugh, Kevin Ogle, Kent Ogle, and John Ferguson.

The Oklahoma Media Network said the awards were given “to a select group of media professionals that have demonstrated excellence in overall work performance in media in Oklahoma.”

“They promote positive morale through congenial, supportive attitudes and by providing service to others. They put forth an effort to improve self as well as to develop and recognize others. He/she also exhibits initiative and creativity resulting in an improved operating efficiency of the Media industry,” their website says. “They have also achieved excellence in their field and/or made significant, observable changes or accomplishments. Finally, they enhance the image of the Oklahoma Media with a body of work that has benefited the people of Oklahoma or has made a measurable impact at any place in the world in their field or activity.”

Linda has earned more than 30 national awards for her reporting as well as twice that many state and regional awards in addition to 15 Emmy’s from the Heartland Chapter of NATAS.

In 1993, Kevin joined the News 4 team as weekend anchor and weekday reporter. He has also worked in radio and print. He has received various awards for reporting.

Kent began his broadcasting career working at area radio stations including El Reno, Perry, Duncan, Lawton, and Oklahoma City. His television career took off in 1989 at KSWO-TV in Lawton, where he worked as a general assignment reporter.

John Ferguson is known for playing “Count Gregore,” a character he would play for 50 years on the late night horror show.
