OKLAHOMA CITY -- In time for the Memorial Day weekend, Oklahoma City's 17 spraygrounds and two family aquatic centers open their doors beginning Saturday at noon.

Spokesperson for the City's Parks and Recreation Department, Jennifer McClintock, said one of the most popular attractions is the zero depth entry pool.

"A lot of our younger kids really love the zero depth entry, because it gives them an opportunity to slowly walk their way into the water and I think a lot of moms love that too because they can sit and be cool while sitting in the water," McClintock said.

Families have their boats ready for the water and kite surfers said they want more wind for the weekend.

"We're waiting for the wind to build a little bit, it's not too windy today, unfortunately. We are the group of people that like the windy days," kite surfer Larry Kordisch said.

The wind can cause big problems for those who plan to grill.

Experts with The Meat House in Edmond want to make sure your food is cooked to perfection this holiday weekend.

"I think use what you are accustomed to grilling with, there is no right or wrong way, but the best tip I can give is just keep an eye on what you're doing," James Kraham said, Director of Operations for The Meat House.

The free public pools in Oklahoma City do not open until around June 12.

The aquatic centers do charge a small admission fee.
