EDMOND, Okla. – A brand new hospital featuring a state-of-the art sports facility is expected to open its doors on Wednesday.

The new Mercy Edmond I-35 facility opening was originally delayed after the building received quite a bit of damage when a tornado touched down in Edmond on May 19 last year.

Community leaders and Mercy staff will have a fresh start at the facility.

The hospital will feature a 200,000 square foot sports performance facility, which is called Mercy Sports Performance.

The sports facility is the first of its kind in Oklahoma that helps athletes test and improve their skills.

Mercy Edmond I-35 will also have a two-level fitness center and outpatient surgery.

An open house and blessing will take place on the hospital campus on Wednesday.
