QUEENS, N.Y.– Human remains that were found washed ashore on Rikers Island Thursday have been identified as Sierra Shields.

Shields, a flight attendant from Queens, went missing in January, according to a spokeswoman for the city’s medical officer.

The 30-year-old was last seen at LaGuardia Airport on January 14th. She had reported just quit her job before leaving the airport.

Shields was scheduled to be on a flight later that day, but never came back. She had not been seen since.

When her disappearance was reported, her cell phone and wallet were found in her apartment.

Her body was found on shore to the west side of the jail by Department of Correction staffers, a source said.

The cause and manner of death have not yet been released.
