OKLAHOMA CITY - On Tuesday, we ran a story about a mom who started her car in the driveway to warm it up, went back inside to get ready and, 10 minutes later, the car was gone.

The mother called the car "a lifeline" for her daughter who is battling leukemia, relying on it to travel to and from chemotherapy.

There’s been no sight of the family’s car, but there was something else in store.

NewsChannel 4 crews went back to the Jones family's home, where they thought we were doing a follow-up on their stolen car, completely oblivious about a big surprise headed their way.

We asked what it has been like the past couple of days without their vehicle.

"It's been really rough trying to get rides to and from school, trying to get rides to and from the grocery store," said Dana Jones. "She's got chemo, so I've got to figure out how to get her there.”

That’s when we told her we had a surprise for her.

Jones looked outside her window and noticed a silver SUV, donated by a Channel 4 supporter.

"Are you kidding me?" she exclaimed.

"We've got a little surprise from you from my family. That's your new car," said Scotty. "We saw this story on the news, and we couldn't pass this opportunity up to help a friend and neighbor in need.”

"It just shows that, when somebody is down and in need, we'll step up, and we'll do everything in our power to help," Jones said.

Her daughter, Katie, was sleeping when we got there but woke up to the surprise and stepped outside for a quick ride in the front seat.

"I just want to thank everybody out there that has come forward and has done everything to help me and my family," Jones said.

The stolen car is still missing - a black 2009 Chevy Cobalt with dark tinted windows and an OU tag on the front.

If you have any information, call Oklahoma City police.
