MOORE, Okla. - A man is behind bars after Moore police said he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house and assaulted her and another man in the home.

Around 2:30 a.m. Monday, police were called to reports of an intruder at a home near N.W. 20th and Astoria.

Police say 27-year-old Marques Craig broke into his ex-girlfriend's home, armed with a pistol.

That is when Craig allegedly pistol whipped his ex-girlfriend and Michael Richmond, who also lives in the home.

"Slapped me on the side of my face with a pistol," Richmond said. "Slapped me again, chipped my tooth."

Richmond said this is a case of domestic violence.

"She was scared, she was terrified of this person and I can understand why, but she don't have to live in fear and no woman should," Richmond said.

Richmond was able to disarm Craig and hold him in a choke hold until police arrived.

"The male occupant of the house was able to wrestle the handgun away from the suspect and they were able to hold him here until officers arrived," Lt. Kyle Dudley, with the Moore Police Dept., said.

"I didn't know if I was going to get the gun, I didn't know if I was going to get out, I was just trying to make sure that she[the female victim] did," Richmond said.

Richmond said he grew up with Craig and is disappointed with his actions.

"He let his jealousy and rage control him and alcohol fuel him," Richmond said. "I tried to talk to him and that didn't work out."

He hopes this violent situation raises awareness about domestic abuse.

"Hopefully he learns from this while he's sitting in jail right now without that pistol," Richmond said.

Craig was booked in Cleveland County Jail and is facing charges of burglary in the first degree, assault with a deadly weapon, unlawfully pointing a weapon and interfering with a 911 call.
