Motorcyclist killed in crash with car near Shawnee

SHAWNEE, Okla. – A Harrah man was killed when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a car near Shawnee.

Rex Helsel, 22 was pronounced dead at a hospital following the crash just before 11:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Helsel was southbound on U.S. 177 when he crashed into a northbound car that was making a left turn from the highway onto a county road, troopers said.

The driver and a 12-year-old boy in the car were hospitalized in serious condition.

A 6-year-old boy in the car was treated and released.
