NORTH CAROLINA – A North Carolina state trooper says they tased a naked man after he ran from them this Thursday morning.

The chase began after Jacksonville police got a call about a breaking and entering by a person who was possibly armed.

The car chase went on for about 14 miles before ending in a corn field.

Troopers say the driver threw out a backpack and clothing along the way before it became a foot chase.

“Trooper Ricky West was actually chasing him through the woods. When he came out through a ditch, he was, he was naked, I gave him loud verbal commands to get on the ground, which he failed to comply with, and he was tased,” said Trooper Sean Spring.

Troopers charged 20-year-old Nicholas Withrow with resist, delay and obstruct, and additional charges are expected from Jacksonville police.

During the chase, two nearby schools were placed on lock-down for staff still on site.
