OKLAHOMA CITY – When it comes to Valentine’s Day, you may be struggling to find ways to make your significant other’s day extra special.

While many people will be flocking to dinner and a movie, the Oklahoma City Ballet has a more romantic option for love birds in need of a night on the town.

The ballet will present the world premier of one of the most classic love stories of all time this weekend.

When you think of the most beloved stories, “Romeo and Juliet” is sure to come to mind.

William Shakespeare’s tale of two star-crossed lovers caught in a bitter battle between family ties has captured audiences’ attention for centuries.

Now, the Oklahoma City Ballet is breathing new life into the poetic tale.

Without words, dancers and the Oklahoma City Philharmonic are able to drop visitors in the midst of Verona without ever leaving the Civic Center.

The ballet’s rendition of the story includes beautiful set designs, elaborate costumes and elegant steps that are completely on point.

From start to finish, audiences will be able to feel the intense passion and romance of a new couple in love, destined to be doomed.

In addition to learning the exact steps for all the dances, ballet organizers say the dancers even had to take sword fighting lessons to make sure the fight scenes appeared authentic.

The production of “Romeo & Juliet” hasn’t been seen in Oklahoma City for nearly a decade but is returning just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The show will take place at the Civic Center from Feb. 13 to Feb. 15.

Limited tickets are still available for the shows, but most are expected to sell out.
