THE VILLAGE, Okla. -- A man posted on the Nextdoor, warning neighbors a gun was stolen from his truck.

Within minutes, the news reached almost an entire city.

Now, neighbors are worried this could lead to a more serious crime.

It's not every day neighbors in the Village take their afternoon to chat about the latest crime.

"It's not like we're trying to be nosy neighbors," Vita Long, a long-time resident told us.

But today's news about a stolen pistol from a home in the 2200 block of 113th St., has many people wondering what happened.

"We're concerned about everything that goes on in the neighborhood, so we want to make sure there isn't anything going on," Long says.

It's a concern that has risen after someone took a pistol from a truck early Thursday morning.

"The gun was here in the center console, just in here, it was open, they didn't even shut it," Nicole Cole, fiancee of the theft victim said.

Cole's fiancee was getting ready to leave around 7:30 Thursday morning when he realized what happened.

"We did leave the truck unlocked last night, I hope nothing bad happens, and I kind of feel responsible, but at the same time, you should be able to leave your stuff and know it's going to be there the next morning," Cole said.

The gun is a black .40 caliber pistol.

"We have no clue what they're going to do with it, if they rob somebody, kill somebody, you just don't know," Cole said.

A fear of the unknown that's brought all the Village neighbors together.

"You want to know what's going on, you don't want to something to be going on that might be a danger to your neighborhood and we all know that," Long says.

The owners of the gun are offering a $100 reward for any information that could lead to an arrest.

If you have any information call police.
