New Chief to step in for Midwest City Fire Department

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. — After 20 years with the Midwest City Fire Department, Midwest City Fire Chief Jarett Metheny will retire July 6, 2015.

Midwest City Fire Department Major Bert Norton has been chosen to fill Metheny’s role. Norton will step in on June 4, and will work alongside Metheny until his retirement.

Norton was sworn in a a Midwest City Firefighter in June of 2001. His first firefighting job was with the Harrah Fire Department in 1994.

Norton has a Bachelor’s of Technology degree in Emergency Responder Administration from Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City.  He is also credentialed as a Fire Officer (FO) by the Center for Public Safety Excellence, and has completed the Blue Card Command training system.
