OKLAHOMA CITY -- Some exciting and high-profile development projects are taking shape in downtown Oklahoma City.

One involves a restaurant known to be connected to Thunder Star Kevin Durant; the other is a state-of-the-art upper-scale apartment complex in the Midtown area.

Wednesday officials broke ground on the new apartment complex called The Edge in Midtown.

The new high-scale complex will be built on the site of the old Mercy Hospital at N.W. 13th St. and Walker Ave.; 250 units with upper-end amenities.

The plan is for the new complex to be open 20 months from now, about June of 2014.

The apartment developers are looking to develop east Bricktown behind the Coca-Cola Event Center with similar apartments they are building in Midtown plus possibly a hotel.

In another big development downtown Wednesday, the Oklahoma City Urban Renewal Development Authority gave its blessing to some new plans offered up by developers of a restaurant connected to KD.

It will be located next to Toby Keith’s restaurant in lower Bricktown.
