A newly approved pain medication aimed at easing the suffering of long-term patients has many in the medical community worried.
Over 40 health care, consumer and addiction treatment groups want the FDA to revoke its approval of Zohydro.
Zohydro is a hydrocodone, since it is generic and not brand based, drug and is believed to be highly addictive.
A leading medical expert called the pill a “whopping dose of hydrocodone packed in easy-to-crush capsule.”
He also went on to say it will kill people as soon as it is released.
The FDA says the drug’s benefit outweigh any risks.
