THE VILLAGE, Okla. — If you live in the Village you may want to double-check how you are parked.
An emergency ordinance has just been enacted after a couple of residents complained about vehicles or other things protruding out from the driveways of homes.
The City Council has now made it against city ordinances to have a vehicle or other objects stick out more than 18 inches past the curve.
Village City Manager Bruce Stone said the council believed this amount was reasonable.
“The council agreed that seemed to be a safety hazard and things that are in the vehicles like a pole or a ladder or anything that could extend out in the street could be a hazard to motorists or bicycles and so forth,” he said.
Stone said they will first be giving offenders a verbal warning and a chance to correct the situation.
After that, it will cost residents.
“It would be punishable with a fine up to $200 but the bond schedule is set by the judge so that would be up to the judge to decide,” he said.
