A new study says parents who share housework responsibilities may also be sharing an important lesson with their daughters.

The research, which was published in the journal ‘Psychological Science,’ says dads who pitch in around the home are more likely to raise daughters who aspire to less traditional and higher paying careers.

In the study, they found a mother’s beliefs on gender and work roles predicted a child’s attitude about gender.

However, it was the father’s role in household chores that was the strongest predictor of the child’s professional ambition.

Experts say the study is a nice reminder to parents that even the little things, like who takes out the trash, can be important lessons to kids.
