NORMAN, Okla. – For the first time, the City of Norman is taking part in National Night Out.

Neighborhood watch volunteers are teaming up with officers, police command staff and detectives on Tuesday to heighten awareness about crime and drugs in the community and send a message to criminals.

From 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., police are encouraging residents to lock their doors, turn on their porch lights and spend the evening getting to know their neighbors.
