OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Police Department has released new details about the suspects allegedly involved in a burglary and subsequent foot-chase on the city’s northwest side Tuesday afternoon.

The chase happened around 2 p.m., when Oklahoma City police were called to a burglary in progress near N.W. 12th St. and May Ave.

OKCPD originally said that when officers arrived on the scene, they spotted two brothers running from the area.

Investigators have since determined that only one man fled in the original foot pursuit.

Police say that man is Jermaine Williams.

Authorities say officer Adam Eller, a rookie, chased Jermaine and eventually caught up with him.

That’s when officials say Jermaine was able to get Eller’s baton away from him and beat the rookie in the head with the weapon.

Despite suffering a head injury, Eller was able to get up and take Jermaine into custody.

Police now say that his brother Tremaine Williams was not involved in that chase and that he had already made into the house, where he was later captured without incident.

Eller was rushed to OU Medical Center.

Fortunately, he is expected to make a full recovery.

Jermaine Williams was arrested on complaints of aggravated assault and battery on a police officer, assault with a dangerous weapon on a police officer, burglary in the second degree, and concealing stolen property.
