SHAWNEE, Okla. – A crash between a semi and car near Shawnee left one person dead, officials say.

It happened just after 7 a.m. Wednesday on US-177, just north of I-40.

According to a trooper’s report, 28-year-old Andrea Gould, of Shawnee, was driving westbound on the I-40 exit ramp when she turned left at a stop sign while a semi was traveling northbound on US-177.

Gould’s vehicle was struck by the semi.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver was not injured.

The report states a failure to yield at the stop sign is what caused the crash.

The northbound and southbound lanes of US-177, just north of I-40, were blocked due to the incident but have since been reopened.

Authorities say it was raining and roadways were wet at the time of the collision.
