Officials: Two firefighters injured while battling oil tanker fire

PAYNE COUNTY, Okla. – Two firefighters were injured while battling an oil tanker fire near the small town of Ripley.

Just after midnight several fire departments were called to the area, according to officials.

Two firefighters from Cushing were injured while battling the flames.

Lt. Jeremy Willman with Cushing Fire Department says one firefighter was sent to Cushing hospital but has since been released.

The other is recovering from minor injuries.

Officials say it took the crews four hours to put out the blaze.
