OKLAHOMA CITY – Officials say two Oklahoma City police officers were bitten by a K-9 officer early Friday morning.

It happened while officers were responding to a welfare check near S.W. 36th and Douglas around 4:30 a.m.

The person they were called to check on seemed intoxicated.

Police say they started fighting with the man when one of the officer’s accidentally hit a button that opens the car door and released the K-9.

But, instead of taking down the suspect, police say the dog bit one officer on the arm and the other officer on the hand.

They were both taken to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Officials say one officer required staples to close the wound.

The suspect was arrested for public drunkenness.
