OKLAHOMA CITY – As the temperatures outside are rising, so are cooling costs across the state.
However, OG&E says that a man is cashing in on residents’ hard earned money by pretending to be collecting bill payments.
The company says a man, posing as an OG&E employee, has been visiting homes to collect past due bill payments.
But the company says it will never send a worker out to a home to collect payments in person.
“We mail two separate notices prior to disconnecting electric service: a 10-day notice and a 48-hour notice. The notices explain the reason for the disconnection, the total amount past due and the date when service may be disconnected if payment arrangements have not been made,” said Kathleen O’Shea, OG&E spokeswoman. “We do call the customer with a 48-hour notice and again the day before the service disconnection. We do not send representatives out to collect payments.”
