OKLAHOMA CITY – A man who was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after he was hit by vehicle on a busy interstate has died.
Crews responded to the scene on I-44 westbound at I-235 Tuesday just before 6:45 a.m.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, they originally responded to what they reported as a fatality collision, however, after investigating, troopers say the man was walking in the left lane when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle in the westbound lane.
UPDATE: OHP worked what was initially reported as a fatal auto pedestrian accident around 6:30 this morning on I-44 westbound just east of I-235. As of 8:30 this morning, the man who was walking on the highway and was struck was still alive.

The vehicle swerved right but was unable to avoid hitting the man.
The man was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Officials say the man, who was identified as 38-year-old Curt Henry, died around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday from his injuries.
