TILLMAN COUNTY, Okla. – An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper had to be flown to a hospital by a medical helicopter after a three vehicle crash Thursday night.

According to KSWO, the accident happened on Hwy 183 just north of Davidson, closing the highway for about two hours.

The condition of the people inside the other two vehicles are unknown at this time.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Trooper Gary Sanders was in his cruiser when it was hit by a southbound pickup truck. The impact sent his car into another vehicle that he had stopped on the highway.

The report says Sanders was pinned in the wreckage for about 40 minutes before Frederick firefighters were able to free him.

He has been transferred to a hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was last listed in critical but stable condition.
