OKLAHOMA COUNTY — The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Department has lost a a trusty steed.

Deputy Ellie Mae died on Tuesday, March 3, she was guessed to be between 30 to 35-years-old.

Ellie, who was part of the Mounted Patrol, had been part of Deputy Randy Garner’s family for over 25 years.

“She was a huge hit wherever she went, and if she wasn’t in attendance, someone would always ask where she was. She was exceptionally good with children,” The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Patrol said on the their Facebook page.

Ellie was retired from the Mounted Patrol this past spring, and went out to Kentucky to live with Deputy Garner’s daughter, Amanda, and her family.

Ellie died peacefully and was surrounded by her family when she passed.

“Ellie, you were truly a great soul and will be greatly missed by everyone. Rest in peace and happy trails!!”
